Bacon and his wife, Kyra Sedgwick, are slated to present together at Sunday’s ceremony. The “Footloose” actor is nominated for lead actor in a miniseries or movie for HBO’s “Taking Chance,” while Sedgwick is up for lead actress in a drama series for her role on “The Closer.”

The Mummers Parade is in trouble and Philly natives Kevin and Michael Bacon of the Bacon Brothers are recording a special version of the title song, “New Year’s Day” off their newest CD on Wednesday to help raise money to save the Philadelphia tradition.

“The Mummer’s culture is an eclectic mix of dance, music and dramatic staging expressed with unabashed exuberance but only once a year, on New Year’s Day. It is as old and as much a part of Philadelphia’s rich history as The Liberty Bell, The Philadelphia Orchestra and John Coltrane,” according the Bacon Brothers.

But they’re not the only Philadelphians looking to help. Bunny Sigler, R & B pioneer and Grammy nominee and The Mummers’ All-Star String Band will contribute to the recording while Sound of Philadelphia cellist Larry Gold will produce “New Year’s Day.”

Proceeds from CD sales will go directly to the Save the Mummers Fund. The fund was set up after the city withdrew budget support for the parade and tacked on additional fees like paying police and sanitation employees for the New Year’s Day event.

The Mummers need between $1 and $2 million dollars annually to make their parade happen, but you can help. Buy the Bacon Brothers CD or donate to the fund; either way, you’ll be helping to save one of Philly’s oldest traditions.

At a brunch event for Trop50 and The Juice, Kyra Sedgwick opened up about what her hubby, original Ren Kevin Bacon, thought of the casting.

“We met him at the [White House] Correspondents’ Dinner and our daughter’s a big fan,” she told E! News. “We were like, ‘If he’s good enough for her, he’s good enough for us.’ ”

More importantly, Bacon imparted a little wisdom on the Gossip Girl star.

“Kevin said good luck and gave him a couple of thoughts, but I can’t remember what they were. Something about wearing really tight jeans and Herbert Ross saying to him, when he was doing the final dance scene, ‘These aren’t tight enough!’ So he kind of warned Chace about it, ‘You’re gonna have to wear really tight jeans. Just so ya know.’ ”

Several of Crawford’s GG castmates were equally as amused…

“I was shocked when I first heard,” Blake Lively admitted to E! News at the CW Upfronts last month. “I’ve never seen him dance. I just want to see the gymnastics part. That’s what I’m most excited about. I keep watching the fitness montage on YouTube and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh! I can’t wait for Chace to do this!’ ”

“I have never seen him sing and dance,” added Connor Paolo. “I’ve seen Chace move, but I haven’t seen him do Kevin Bacon.”

Crawford starts shakin’ like Bacon in March 2010, when cameras are due to start rolling.

The 50-year-old routinely jets first class on United Airlines between NY and LA and an inside source tells us he is the most polite flier ever. We’re told Kevin is so courteous he even folds and puts away his blanket every time his flight lands.

I think that we have even more reasons to love him!
